Caption: Space Science Engineering Center mechanical engineer Jim Green runs tests on a 33-foot long hose reel, part of a drilling rig for the IceCube neutrino telescope project, outside the UW-Madison Physical Sciences Laboratory in Stoughton, WI. The reel, with 1.8 miles of hot water hose wrapped around the spindle, will be deployed to Antarctica in the fall of 2003, where hot water will be used to drill through ice.
